In the modern world, mechanical engineering is central to many activities leading to industrial and business growth. Mechanical engineering is concerned with all types of machinery in industries, as well as all aspects of their mechanism and functions—design, development, construction, production, installation, operation, and maintenance. A mechanical engineering course provides the core knowledge for a variety of careers in these fields. They are the driving force behind many of our technologies and industrial processes. Mechanical engineers are involved in creating the future. Mechanical engineering is also the basis on which other branches of engineering are evolved. Mechanical engineers are expected to apply basic concepts from physics, chemistry, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, electronics, and civil engineering. The benefit of this fundamental role is that the wide coverage of the subjects in mechanical engineering provides a wide choice of career employment in industries as diverse as heavy engineering, power plants, steel plants, oil and petroleum, chemical, food, pharmaceutical, environmental protection, and energy conservation.

Welcome to the Department of Mechanical Engineering at SIT College of Engineering, Greater Noida. In 2005, we started our journey with a mechanical stream. Over the past decade, we have expanded our expertise and competence in the IT-enabled Design and Manufacturing-centered Mechanical Engineering curriculum and research. We have a strong undergraduate program in mechanical engineering, called B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering. At the postgraduate level, we offer an M.Tech program with a sanctioned intake of 18 students. Our undergraduate and postgraduate programs are all affiliated with AKTU Lucknow. Our department provides a design and manufacturing-based engineering curriculum that is IT-enabled. The primary focus of our curriculum is to impart technical know-how to students, promote their problem-solving skills, and encourage innovation in new technologies. The department offers a large number of interdisciplinary courses to provide students with cross-cutting knowledge to pursue their interests. The course contents are periodically updated to introduce new scientific and technological developments.
Undergraduate students are encouraged to undertake various research projects and to spend time in neighboring industries. Our department maintains active research groups to carry out collaborative and interdisciplinary research. We have state-of-the-art research facilities to support our academic programs and research. Excellent research funding enables us to maintain high standards in our research infrastructure. Our department has a distinguished record in both teaching and research. Faculty members have excellent academic credentials and are highly regarded.
